Where Kerala's Timeless Architecture Awakens the Soul

Tharakkal Warriem Architecture

Few places capture the soul of Kerala’s architectural past like Tharakkal. Unlike isolated heritage homes, Tharakkal is a vibrant cluster of traditional Kerala Architecture residences situated within one historic plot. From its ancient temples to its tranquil ponds, every structure tells a story of royal lineage and timeless design.

Naalukettu: The Heartbeat of Harmony

More than just four blocks surrounding a central courtyard (Nadumuttom), the Naalukettu is a marvel of ancient environmental engineering. It ensures perfect cross-ventilation, keeps interiors cool even on the hottest days, and uses the open sky to bring light and rain directly into the heart of the home.

Multiple Structures

Tharakkal complex houses multiple buildings suiting various needs like Patharappura (granary), a private bank, a Kulappura Maalika (a royal stay for Samuthiri) etc

There are multiple Kerala architecture styled houses within the Tharakkal Warriem complex. Each of them are occupied by members of Tharakkal family.

In House Temples

At Tharakkal we worship our family deities. Poojas and offerings happen here on a daily basis.

Balanarasimhamoorthy, the compassionate protector, anchors our main sanctum; beside him, Anthimahakalan embodies fierce guardianship. We also worship snake Gods here.

Padippuras

The entry and exit to this majestic living space is through gates called as padippuras. There are 3 padippuras on each side of the complex. Apart from that there is an ornate Kshetra Gopuram too…
